Materials:
500 yards of fingering weight yarn or #10 crochet thread. (I used #10 cotton crochet thread for the white ones. The yellow one was made with fingering weight yarn. Both make a very nice scarf but the end product is just a little different, with the fingering weight yarn being a little less lacey looking.)
Crochet hook size H/8 - 5.0 MM or whatever size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 10 sts and 2 pattern repeats (8 rows) in a 3 inch sq. (This gauge is kind of loose. This is what gives the scarf the lacey look.)
Abbreviations used: St(s) - stitch(es) Ch - chain Sl st - slip stitch Sc - single crochet Dtr - double treble
Sizes: Adult Size Only
Notes:
1: Chain sts in beginning of row do count as st.
2: When I have a number followed by a st, that stitch needs to be worked over that number of sts.
Example: “10 sc,” that is 1 sc in each of the next 10 sts.
3: The numbers in the ( ) at the end of each row is the total number of sts in that row. You do not have to do anything with these numbers they are just there to check your work.
4: Each step is separated by a comma.
5: Join each rnd with a sl st to the spot at the top of the ch sts.
Where to start and stop each rnd:
Special Stitches:
Double Treble: Wrap yarn around hook 3 times, insert hook into specified stitch, yarn over, draw yarn through stitch (5 loops on hook), yarn over, draw yarn through first two loops on hook (4 loops on hook), yarn over, draw yarn through first two loops on hook (3 loops on hook), yarn over, draw yarn through first two loops on hook (2 loops on hook), yarn over, draw yarn through the last two loops on hook.
PATTERN
Ch 220, join with sl st to first ch to make a rnd. (It is fairly easy to chain these original chains to be tighter then the rest of the scarf. You want to make sure and not ch them too tightly. I like to up my hook to the next size bigger just to make sure that they are loose enough.)
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 219 sc, join with sl st. (When joining this rnd you want to make sure that your piece is not twisted.) (220 total sts in rnd)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 219 sc, join with sl st. (220 total sts in rnd)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, 219 sc, join with sl st. (220 total sts in rnd)
Rnd 4: Ch 4, 219 dtr, join with sl st. (220 total sts in rnd)
Rnds 5-24: Repeat rnds 1-4. (When finished with rnd 24 you should have a total of 6 dtr rows.)
Rnds 25-27: Repeat rnds 1-3. Fasten off.
